I wish we could all be like the Angut!

It’s a phrase that everyone (unjustly) uses. "ANGUT." When someone does something silly, doesn’t understand something, or just stares blankly, people immediately say, "Are you an Angut?" Many people don’t even know that an Angut is actually a type of bird.

When an Angut bird loses its mate, it waits by its partner's body, never taking its eyes off it. Even if a predator or a human approaches, the bird keeps its gaze fixed on its dead mate.

This is the greatest act of "Angut-ness" performed by this creature. Moreover, this behavior is true for all Angut birds. It’s not something you see often. Even though they are very timid animals, an Angut bird will not run away if you extend your hand while it stands by its dead mate. You know the saying, "Don’t look at me like an Angut."

I wish everyone could look at their loved ones like that, just like the Angut. The Angut is a waterfowl that lives in lakes, marshes, and rivers and has a lifespan of around 8-10 years. It is a hybrid of a duck and a goose with a distinct leg style.

After the death of its mate, this bird doesn’t accept another partner and lives alone for the rest of its life.

Loyalty is an important trait that sets the Angut apart from other animals. Like Anguts, the white storks (kelaynak) also live as monogamous pairs. Additionally, the Angut bird’s mourning state lasts until the end of its life.
