What do you believe happens after death?

Hello, I have a question today. I’ve had this random fixation on my mind for a while which I know It is untrue but it keeps me up at night is what if when we die our consciousness doesn’t go away.

Like we would be dead but we’d still be conscious and aware of everything that happens and feel ourself get cremated or whatever. Obviously if your body was destroyed like that there probably wouldn’t be anything to perceive consciousness from.
